Gravy Quarterly

I was commissioned to draw two editorial illustrations to accompany two poems by writer Joshua Nguyen in Gravy Quarterly’s spring 2023 issue.

The first poem is a response to the words “You were born in Vietnam, I don’t see any of that in your food” said by Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio to Season 3 winner Hung Huynh. The second poem is a love letter to the writer’s favorite restaurant, Waffle House, where many birthdays were celebrated and dreams came alive.
